Small Capital Improvement Program


  • In January the Executive Vice Chancellor notifies the Deans, Vice Chancellors and Librarian that project proposals from academic and administrative units for the following fiscal year Small Capital Improvement Program will be due late May.

    Small capital improvements are defined as new construction or renovation, including fixed equipment, estimated to cost between $20,000 and approximately $1,000,000. Priority is given to projects that meet the following criteria:
    • Accommodate new faculty hires
    • Improve instructional space
    • Correct critical code or regulatory compliance deficiencies
    • Address urgent deferred maintenance problems

    Examples of projects that have been funded in the past include:
    • Upgrade of fire alarm system
    • Renovation of research wet lab to make into instructional wet lab
    • Renovation of office and lab space to meet the needs of new faculty
    • Classroom renovations
